Cristian Tudor Popescu questioned the way in which Nicușor Dan exercises his position as president, accusing him of passing responsibility in the political crisis, not having a clear position towards the PSD and applying a “treacherous strategy”.
Cristian Tudor Popescu launched a new unprovoked attack on President Nicușor Dan. He directly accused him of lying and continues to lie, finally comparing him as perfidy to the former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and to Rumen Radev, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, for the “equalizing speech between the aggressor and the victim” according to the American model.
“Mr. President lies! Not only does he rhyme “lie” with “president”, he really lies! And he lied I don’t know how many times during this mandate. After which the lies went to jail, as Traian Băsescu said. They were put in jail, they fell into obscurity. Do you want us to remember all his statements, how he will put order in the judiciary, how the CSM goes home, how he appoints the heads of services next week? How many more of these lies of his should we remember?”, said CTP on Wednesday, July 15, on B1 TV.
The journalist also criticized Nicușor Dan’s statements about finding a solution to the political crisis this summer, arguing that the president passes the responsibility to the parties.
“Mr. Nicușor Dan presents himself, another lie, as a mediator. Between whom and who has mediated so far? Did Nicușor Dan achieve any results as a mediator? Another lie: “We discussed, we mediated!”, “President mediator from Cotroceni, the Salary Law is resolved”. That was the headlines on Dan’s televisions: it’s solved, the president solved it, they agreed and it will go through Parliament. See how it goes right now? Like a ram through a wall, the Salary Law passes through Parliament, under the threats of Mr. Grindeanu. So, Grindeanu threatens that he will not vote for this law, as well as other laws that mean almost 5 billion euros for Romania from the PNRR, if Bolojan does not resign.
And Mr. Nicușor Dan has nothing to say, again. Let him come out as president of the pro-Western Romania, as he says, and say: «How can you say such a thing? Do you condition the PNRR’s vote?”. (…) Mr. President doesn’t say anything, but he is a mediator”, continued Cristian Tudor Popescu.
The Adrian Vestea moment
In the context of the discussions about the chances of forming a new government, he also commented on the Adrian Veştea moment, more precisely his nomination by Nicusor Dan for the position of prime minister, after Eugen Tomac submitted his mandate, admitting that he was unable to gather a majority around him.
CTP ranking of presidents “by least evil”. Surprise: the last place is not occupied by Ion Iliescu
“Another lie now is that the solution to the crisis will be found this summer, and the parties will find it. Not him, not Nicușor Dan. No, he did his duty, he put Vestea underfoot, trampling the PNL, so he did his duty by doing this anti-democratic, anti-human, anti-anything donkey, yes? Therefore, now it’s the parties’ job”. stated Cristian Tudor Popescu.
“Mr. Veștea was brought to us by this gentleman who is waving his hands over there (ed. Nicușor Dan), he brought him to us one morning, from somewhere at the bottom of the garden. I took him out and presented him: he is the appointed prime minister because that’s what I want, I came to the conclusion that everyone, all the polls indicate that a Vestea Government will pass. When this gentleman (ed. – Vestea), in desperation for the cause, because no one was passing, he went – where? – at AUR, with miloaga, did Mr. Nicușor Dan say something about this gesture, which protects Romania from extremists, from anti-Europeans? Again, no “bleau”, nothing!” said the reporter.
“He didn’t say a critical word about the PSD”
Another reproach brought by Cristian Tudor Popescu to the president is that he did not have a critical position towards the PSD or towards the interim leader of the formation, Sorin Grindeanu, although he presents himself as a mediator of the political crisis.
“In a year, he did not say a critical word to the PSD or Grindeanu. But he is a mediator! Instead, he criticized the others, including the USR, in every way and the other parties. Including his option for Drula then, in the elections for the Capital City Hall. But PSD, nothing bad. But Mr. President is a mediator…”, scored CTP.
“What’s going on there? Porn movies? About what?”
Another fact that sparked the journalist’s revolt is that the negotiations at the Cotroceni Palace were not broadcast publicly, so no one knows exactly how the discussions are going and what exactly is being negotiated behind the closed doors at Cotroceni.
“Why didn’t Mr. Nicușor Dan allow the televising of these negotiations, the so-called negotiations… Let’s see what is being said! Why weren’t they televised? What’s going on there? Is it a private institution, Cotroceniul, sir, where the party leaders discuss with the president? We, the people, don’t need to know what they’re discussing there? Empty banks? What’s being discussed there? About porn movies? About what? Why didn’t they meet? No do you know why Mr. Nicușor is doing this? Because he is doing exactly what Viktor Orban, the prime minister of Bulgaria, and others are doing now. I am not talking about the equalizing discourse between the aggressor and the victim.” stated Cristian Tudor Popescu.
