Strike before the start of the Superliga! The capital remains without two of its most important stadiums

The start of the new Superliga season finds FCSB and Dinamo without the opportunity to play in the most important arenas in Bucharest. Both the National Arena and the Dinamo stadium are unavailable, and the two clubs are forced to reschedule their matches or play in other stadiums.

The National Arena, unavailable until September

The National Arena will remain closed for football competitions until the beginning of September due to the events organized in the stadium. On the weekend of July 17-19, the arena hosts the Bucharest Town Charity Run 2026, and between August 21 and 23 the SAGA Festival will take place. Only after the end of these events will a new lawn be installed and the necessary works will be carried out to bring the stadium back to the standards required for playing matches.

If the schedule will be respected, football could return to the National Arena on the weekend of September 5-6, when the derby between Dinamo and FCSB is scheduled. However, the arena will not be available for long, as between September 18 and 20 it will host Asia Fest, an event dedicated to Asian culture and gastronomy.

The Dinamo stadium cannot be used either

Demolition of the old arena began in January to make way for the new sports complex, but work was suspended in June. The builder requested an increase in the value of the contract by approximately 30 million euros, citing technical changes resulting from the studies carried out on the construction site.

The National Investment Company estimates that the demolition and execution works will resume in August, once the order has been issued for the start of the second phase of the project.
