Ciprian Ciucu, the general mayor of the Capital, is “quiet” in relation to the corruption file in which he is being investigated by the DNA and claims that he has never conditioned the issuance of any opinions. But he says that the investigation affected him.
“I have no emotions”said the mayor, on Friday evening, on Romania TV.
Ciprian Ciucu rejected the prosecutors’ accusations and claimed that the administrative acts cited in the file were issued after his departure from the District 6 City Hall.
“I didn’t take any money from these people” and “I have never conditioned any opinion”, said the mayor.
The mayor explained that the document referred to by the investigators was not issued by him.
“I did not issue it“, said Ciprian Ciucu.
“It hit me pretty hard”
The mayor admitted that his indictment affected him personally.
“It hit me pretty hard,” he stated, explaining that he built his political career on a speech against corruption.
Referring to the evidence in the file, the mayor claimed that it does not appear in the consulted interceptions.
“I don’t appear on any records” and “I am calm”said Ciucu.
However, he believes that the file will end up in court.
“I think it’s going to end up in court”said the general mayor.
Ciprian Ciucu is under judicial control in a file in which DNA prosecutors accuse him of having received advertising and electoral consulting services from two real estate investors in exchange for the performance of duties related to a real estate project.
We remind you that, at the beginning of this month, the general mayor of the Capital obtained in court the right to temporarily leave the country for a vacation in Portugal, after the magistrates accepted the complaint filed against the DNA’s decision to prohibit him from traveling abroad during the judicial review.
According to the court, the tourist package for the vacation in Portugal had been purchased by the mayor on June 10, 2026, before the anti-corruption prosecutors ordered the measure of judicial control.
