Huge score differences after appeals at Baccalaureate 2026. A grade of 7.50 became 9.80 after re-correction

A grade of 7.50 became a 9.80, a 9.90 turned into a 10, and several candidates passed the exam after re-marking the papers. Appeals from the 2026 Baccalaureate changed the results in thousands of cases and raised the pass rate by more than two percentage points.

The final results of the 2026 Baccalaureate exam, published on Sunday, July 12, show that the re-evaluation of papers led to the modification of grades in almost all cases where appeals were lodged. The interim Minister of Education, Mihai Dimian, stated that, after their resolution, the pass rate increased from 74.8% to 76.9%, with more than two percentage points compared to the results initially displayed.

According to the data published on the ministry’s website, 55,454 appeals were submitted at the national level, and in 53,581 cases, i.e. in 96.6% of the corrected papers, the grade was changed. Most of the appeals concerned the Romanian Language and Literature exam, where 21,901 papers were reevaluated.

Beyond the statistics, in several counties huge differences appeared between the initial grade and the one after the appeal. Some grades increased by more than two points after the reassessment, others were enough for graduates to achieve an overall average of 10 or pass the passing threshold.

It scored 2.3 points higher after recorrection

One of the biggest differences between the grade received initially and the one after re-correction was registered in Arad county, where a graduate of the “Preparandia-Dimitrie Țichindeal” National College, teacher-educator major, challenged the 7.50 grade obtained in Romanian language and literature.

After re-evaluation, the work was marked with 9.80, 2.3 points more than at the first correction, according to Edupedu.ro.

Overall average 10, after appeal

Alexandra Sorian, a graduate of the “Ioan Slavici” National College in Satu Mare, became the only candidate in the county with a general average of 10, after her grade in Romanian Language and Literature was increased from 9.90 to 10, following the student’s appeal after seeing her work.

And Bogdan Dragotă, head of promotion at the “Roth-Oberth” Theoretical High School in Mediaș, got a grade 10 in computer science after contesting the score of 9.95.

“I submitted an appeal to computer science after viewing the paper and analyzing the scale. I was convinced that I solved everything correctly and that’s why I wanted my paper to be reevaluated. I was optimistic about the outcome of the appeal and I’m happy with the final result.” he declared for the Council Tower.

From rejected to promoted

In Brașov county, appeals changed the final result for several candidates.

At the “Dr. Ioan Șenchea” Technological High School in Făgăraş, a candidate exceeded the passing threshold after the grade in Human Anatomy and Physiology, Genetics and Human Ecology was increased from 5.35 to 6.80.

At the “IC Drăgușanu” Theoretical High School in Victoria, a graduate received a grade 10 in History after being initially assessed with 8.55. The same candidate also obtained an extra point in Mathematics, where the grade increased from 7.75 to 8.75.

Also in Braşov, at the “Radu Negru” National College in Făgăraș, several papers on Romanian language and literature were reevaluated with more than one extra point, one student reaching from 7.60 to 9.10, another from 8.70 to 9.70, a third from 7.90 to 9.10.

Here too, several graduates passed the exam after appeals. A grade of 5.75 became 6.75, another rose from 5.55 to 6.65, and a third from 5.85 to 7.15.

A graduate from Cluj told Edupedu that his grade in History increased from 7.00 to 8.30 and claimed that a difference of 1.30 points between the two evaluations raises questions about how the papers are corrected.

There were, however, lower grades after appeals. A graduate from Galați reported that, after the reevaluation, her grade in History dropped from 8.00 to 6.50, 1.5 points less.
