The Palace of Culture was built over the medieval royal court of Moldavia from 1434. Legend has it that the first reconstruction and expansion project of the Palace of Moldavia was commissioned by Alexandru Moruzi, ruler of the time, in 1803. Until 1841, the Palace was rebuilt again by Prince Mihai Sturza. In 1906, the building went through an extensive reconstruction process, being approached in the neo-Gothic style. The renovations were stopped by the First World War, but were completed in 1925. Thus, the inauguration was done a year later, by King Ferdinand.
