Footage of the first patient to be implanted with a brain chip as he plays chess with thought VIDEO

The first human patient with a brain chip implant can play chess with just his mind, a video shows him manipulating digital components without physical movement. Its performance is the result of a project by Elon Musk's company Neuralink.

The patient is Noland Arbaugh, a 29-year-old paraplegic whose life changed eight years ago when he was paralyzed from the shoulders down in a traffic accident.

He received a brain chip implant from the company Neuralink in January of this year, and the way this implant is helping him is amazing.

Control a computer cursor and participate in a game of chess just by thinking

Elon Musk unveiled a breakthrough in brain-computer interface technology through his company Neuralink, showing the paralyzed young man as he controls a computer cursor and participates in a game of chess just by thinking, thanks the implanted chip, according to Mirror Now.

In a video that first appeared on Ilon Musk's X platform and then shared on Facebook and YouTube, the young man practically demonstrates the ability to manipulate digital objects without physical movement.

See the cursor on the screen? It's just mine…it's just brain power“, the young man says in the video.

The recording shows him playing chess using his mind, a feat he described as akin to using “Force” from Star Wars.

Neuralink, which Musk founded as a medical research entity in 2016, aims to revolutionize the way people with disabilities interact with the world.

The technology used in Noland Arbaug's case involves an implantation process in which a robot inserts wire-like electrodes into the brain, allowing direct communication between neural activity and computing devices.

The surgical procedure was described by Arbaugh as “super easy”thanks to the non-invasive nature and simplicity of the procedure, which does not require general anesthesia and allows you to return home the same day.

“I'm damn lucky”

Arbaugh is the best example of Neuralink's transformative impact, with the young man sharing his renewed ability to engage in activities such as playing chess, which he was practicing before his accident.

I'm so damn lucky to be a part of this project, every day I feel like we're learning something new”the young man expressed his gratitude and amazement, according to Mirror Now.
