Alfred Simonis, the president of the Timiș County Council, is one of the favorites in the PSD to take over the position of president of the party, after Marcel Ciolacu will resign.
The PSD meeting will start on Tuesday at 1:00 pm, and Simonis is not yet decided if he will accept such a challenge. In a television intervention, he said that there are criteria that suit him and others that confuse him in occupying this position.
“For now, we are in front of a meeting in which Ciolacu will resign. There are several colleagues who have expressed their intention, I do not count among them, we see the direction in which the meeting goes. There is a complicated period. There are discussions about certain candidates who want more than others, there is no more. President, part of them match, others do not. Simonis said.
About the possibility of continuing the PSD in government, Simonis said that the priority is now the election of a president at the party, ”Then let’s think of the country’s interests. A decision will be made according to the Neiova of the Country of Stability ”Simonis said.
The PSD National Political Council meets on Tuesday, the meeting having on the agenda the resignation of Marcel Ciolacu from the head of the party and the decision regarding the entry to government or the opposition.
“The only conclusion last night is that Marcel Ciolacu officially resides from the party’s forehead, and one of the first vice-presidents, according to the statute, must become interim president. Today he will be decided”, I support sources from the PSD leadership for Adevărul.
The two first vice-presidents are Sorin Grindeanu (Minister of Transport) and Daniel Băluță (Mayor of Sector 4). Currently, Sorin Grindeanu would have higher chances to take over the party as an interim leader, but Daniel Băluță also relies on two leaders with weight in the party: Mihai Tudose and Paul Stănescu, the sources quoted.
