Mădălinei’s death, a 29 -year -old policeman from Constanța, after giving birth to a private maternity ward, has aroused a wave of revolt and questions about patient safety.

During the same days, on Friday, October 10, invited to a show at Digi24, the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced a national check and “mapping/mapping” to all private medical units carrying out surgery.

Alexandru Rogobete, the Minister of Health, said that the State Sanitary Inspection will start a national “mapping” of private offices and clinics to verify the respect of the safety of surgery.

“Any operating room must have at least one bed of ATI”, stressed the minister, adding that many medical offices in the private environment “It does not provide safe conditions for interventions, although performing operations.”

According to him, the State Sanitary Inspection will carry out a national control for the evaluation of offices and operating rooms subordinated to private networks, given that, says the minister, there
“Cabinets on the ground floor of the block, where simple operations take place, is true, but does not respect the legislation on the safety of surgery.”

The purpose is to identify situations in which patients are subject to major risks due to the lack of emergency infrastructure, especially ATI sections.

A tragedy that raises question marks

Mădălina, the young woman who lost her life, had managed to become a mother after years of attempts and an in vitro fertilization. Her husband said that the woman had chosen the private maternity ward convinced by the positive reviews and recommendations in the online environment.

Due to the massive hemorrhage postpartum, the doctors decided to intervene surgically and remove the uterus, but the condition of the woman worsened quickly. Maternity did not have an intensive care section, so the patient was transferred to the County Hospital in Constanța, where he arrived in critical condition and finally died.

The County Hospital in Constanța has notified the police, and a team of forensic doctors will perform the autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Following the tragedy, the Ministry of Health announced that it will check all the clinics and private offices where surgery is performed. There will be a complete mapping of the medical infrastructure, to ensure that each unit that carries out operations has access to equipment and personal ATI.

The “map” announced by Minister Rogobete has the role of preventing similar cases and imposing sanctions where safety rules are not respected.
