Around Flowers, Art Safari opens an exhibition dedicated to flowers in Romanian art: flowers. From Luchian to Câliei

Art Safari opens, from April 10, a new temporary exhibition dedicated to flowers, one of the most delicate and loaded by symbol topics in art. Flowers.

Flowers. From Luchian to Câliei It brings to the fore a sensitive and refined visual universe, in which the works of the great Romanian artists transform flowers into emotion, memory and plastic poetry.

Ștefan Luchian, Alexandru Ciucurencu, Alma Redlinger, Andy Warhol, Carmen Sylva, Constantin Piliuță, Eustatiu Stoenescu, Ion Alin Gheorghiu, Ion Pacea, Ștefan Câlii, Ștefan Popescu and Vasile Grigore are just a few names. The exhibition can be visited by May 25.

One of the oldest forms of communication

The flowers, beyond their structural fragility, accompanied humanity in the most diverse contexts: from the funeral to the bridal space, from the religious ritual to the diplomatic ceremony. Giving a flower is probably one of the oldest forms to communicate without words.

In the same direction, recent studies It shows that flowers stimulate positive emotional reactions and favor social cohesion, regardless of the cultural context. Perhaps that is why, although fragile and ephemeral, flowers continue to have a special gravity in the collective imaginary. They are, perhaps, among the few things we offer without explanations, but not meaningless.

What does the exhibition from Art Safari bring new

Blue pot, Stefan Câliei (1998) JPG

Discreetly anchored around the Flower feast, the exhibition Flowers. From Luchian to Câliei It brings to the attention the flower not only as an aesthetic form, but also as a vector of cultural, social and personal meanings. Pretext and protagonist, it is also revealed as a recurrent and profoundly personal image in modern and contemporary Romanian art.

The works selected for this exhibition draw a sensitive path, from the meditative delicacy of the compositions of Stefan Luchian, to the metaphorical refinement of one of the most beloved contemporary Romanian artists, Stefan Câlța, in whose universe he acquires a silent poetic side and a subtle symbol, and a symbol, archetypal. The exhibition does not propose variations on the same theme, but explores affective, temporal and existential dimensions of the flower. In the hands of artists, the flower becomes a fragment of internalized world, a visual meditation on fragility and resistance.

In a discreet way, this exhibition offers a symbolic, tied bouquet-instead of ribbons-with the fine threads of memory and contemplation. It is an invitation to receive these flowers as they are painted, felt, designed and, perhaps, to remind us of the simple and deep gesture to offer them.
