The President of the Romanian Senate, Nicolae Ciucă, met on Tuesday with the new ambassador of Greece in Bucharest, Lili Evangelia Grammatika, and they discussed, among other things, economic cooperation between our countries and regional interconnection. Ciucă conveyed the appreciation of the Romanian authorities for the support offered by Greece in favor of our country's admission to the Schengen Area and the OECD.

“I met this morning with Her Excellency Evangelia Grammatika, the new ambassador of Greece in Romania. The Hellenic Republic is one of our most important partners in the region, both countries having close collaborations both within the EU and within the North Atlantic Alliance. I conveyed to him the appreciation of the Bucharest authorities for the support that his country openly showed in favor of Romania's admission to the Schengen Area and the OECD”, wrote Nicolae Ciucă on his Facebook page.
The President of the Senate stated that during the mandate of the new ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, the economic cooperation between the two countries can expand.
“In his mandate, which has just begun, the economic cooperation between our countries can expand. For example, in the field of energy and transport there is already an interest in better regional interconnection. I also reiterated the common support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, for finding a peaceful solution to the situation in Gaza, but also for the expansion of the European Union in the region”, concluded Ciucă.
In fact, according to the Embassy of Greece in Bucharest, during the meeting between the leader of the Senate Nicolae Ciucă and the ambassador Lili Evangelia Grammatika, it was discussed, among other things, about the Joint Declaration for the promotion of economic and political cooperation, co-signed in 2022 and respectively about the importance of its implementation by finalizing the Plan of related action.
“Also confirmed was the common interest in promoting the interconnection of ports in Greece – Bulgaria – Romania, which will contribute to increasing the security of the Black Sea, as well as the resilience of the wider region. The two sides also emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, as well as the European perspective of the Western Balkans. In the end, they agreed on the opportunity to revitalize bilateral parliamentary cooperation,” said the quoted source.
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu declared, on Monday, during a meeting with the new ambassador of Greece in Bucharest, Lili Evangelia Grammatika, that the friendship between the two states is reflected by an “extremely rich” agenda.
