Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of Tesla and Spacex, made public on Tuesday, June 17, the result of a recent anti-drug test, in an attempt to respond to the accusations launched in the press on its alleged consumption of prohibited substances.

The US billionaire, known for the active presence on the X platform (former Twitter), has published the toxicological report indicating negative results for a wide range of drugs, including amphetamines, ecstasy, cocaine, ketamine, cannabinoids and fentanel.

The test was performed on June 11, 2025, by Fastest Labs from South Austin, Texas, and the results were released five days later.

Musk’s approach comes from an article published by the New York Times, who claims that the businessman frequently consumed drugs during the election campaign in the autumn of 2024, a campaign that coincided with the re -election of Donald Trump for a second term at the White House.

According to the quoted source, Elon Musk would have abused ketamine, ecstasy and hallucinogenic fungi at a rate considered “alarming” by close sources. The publication also mentions that the billionaire kept about 20 pills in a box of daily drugs and that excessive use of ketamine would have caused medical problems, such as bladder disorders.

Elon Musk reacted promptly, denying the accusations.

“I tried recipe ketamine a few years ago and I said this on X, so that is not even a novelty. Helps to get out of dark mental states, but I haven’t taken it since then.” he said, accusing the New York Times journalists of “lying.”

Elon Musk distributed before publishing the report a comment of an X user, who wrote: “If Elon takes any kind of drugs, I want what he takes.”

The specialists challenge the relevance of the test

However, the relevance of the toxicological test is challenged by specialists. The test done by Elon Musk was a urine, which, according to the Addiction Center, can identify drugs in the body only if consumed in the last three days.

Other methods, such as blood, saliva or capillary tests (hair -based), offer a wider detection window. For example, a hair test can show the traces of ketamine in the body for a period of up to three months.

Given that the accusations in the press refer to the drug use in the autumn of 2024, the test presented by Elon Musk cannot categorically deny these accusations.
