When the election campaign starts

The electoral campaign will start on November 1 and will end on November 30, 2024, at 7:00 a.m.

Toni Greblă also said on Tuesday, October 1, that the deadline for submitting candidacies for the presidential elections to the BEC is October 5. Also, October 10 is the deadline for registering on the AEP website citizens with the right to vote who have their domicile or residence abroad, in order to vote by mail.

“On October 5, at the end of the day, midnight, is the deadline for submitting candidacies and electoral signs to the BEC. October 8 is the date for filing appeals for the elections for the president of Romania, at the CCR and after a three-day interval, the candidacies remain definitive, unless they are invalidated by the Court“, Toni Greblă also specified.

The president of AEP also said that the military parade on December 1 does not confuse the conduct of the elections because “there is nothing electoral about it”.

The two voting rounds of the presidential elections are scheduled for November 24 and December 8 respectively, and the parliamentary elections for December 1, the National Day.

“The competence to set the date of the elections belongs exclusively to the Government. From the point of view of the Permanent Electoral Authority and the technical organization of the elections, there is no problem for the vote to take place on December 1”stated Toni Greblă.

Campaign to promote voting methods in airports

The Permanent Electoral Authority has started a campaign to promote the methods of exercising the vote in the presidential and parliamentary elections, in nine of the main international airports in Romania and through traditional communication channels

The correct and prompt information of voters is the foundation of democratic elections and is one of the main concerns of the Permanent Electoral Authority. We are honored that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs joined the initiative and supports us in our effort to correctly inform Romanian voters abroad about this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections. By being present in the main international airports in Romania, we propose that the messages regarding the exercise of the right to vote reach as many Romanian voters as possible”says Toni Greblă.

According to AEP, in the premises of the “Henri Coandă” International Airport in Bucharest, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, roll-ups and mobile stands with leaflets containing useful information intended for Romanian voters domiciled or residing abroad were placed on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, including registration on the web portal www.votstrainatate.ro in order to express the right to vote by mail.
