France started the match strongly and Bono denied Mbappe’s shot in the 4th minute. Then the Moroccan goalkeeper cleared the ball with an Upamecano header and Dembele sent it over the bar in the 18th minute.

Mazraoui fouled Mbappe in the box, and Argentine referee Facundo Tello awarded a penalty after three minutes of waiting. Goalkeeper Bono concentrated and parried the ball sent weakly by Mbappe.

The first part of the match ended with Desire Doue’s opportunity (min. 35), and this time Bono was on the post.

After the break, France was much more insistent, managing to materialize territorial superiority. Mbappe came out and opened the scoring with a superb execution where Diop was only a spectator (min. 60).

Then, after six minutes, Dembele increased the difference with a shot from 18 meters. Mbappe left in the 77th minute, after a harder contact, the Real Madrid forward being the top scorer of the final tournament along with Messi, with eight successes each.

Until the end, the Moroccans sent the first shot on goal (min. 83), when Maignan took Ounahi,

France is the first team to qualify for the semifinals, a stage in which they reach for the third time in a row and in which they will meet the winner of tomorrow’s Spain-Belgium match.

France coach Didier Deschamps scored his 25th match at the World Cup finals, equaling the record held by German Helmut Schon. The latter led the West German team at the 1966, 1970 and 1974 editions of the World Cup, while Deschamps collected 25 matches at four final tournaments: 2014, 2018, 2022 and 2026. The third coach in this hierarchy is the Brazilian Carlos Alberto Parreira, who led his country’s team in 23 matches. At the same time, Deschamps ticked off 20 wins in the 25 matches, while Helmut Schon was left with 16.
