George Simion says that Gigi Becali could be among the AUR candidates and proposes a collaboration protocol with USR

George Simion says that he would agree to a collaboration protocol with USR, in order to achieve specific objectives such as the election of mayors in two rounds or administrative reform. The AUR leader also states that Becali could be among the candidates of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians.

The President of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians explained in the show “In front of you” on Digi 24 which are the parties with which he would refuse to sit at the same table, explaining that it would be “unacceptable” for the AUR to collaborate in a future parliamentary majority with “the current system, the current government”, represented by PSD, PNL and UDMR:

“I think that Ciolacu, Ciucă, Kelemen Hunor are out of the question and I can only hope that through my success we will see a change in the central leadership of these parties. It is unacceptable to work with the current government“.

The AUR leader also said that “there are some people from PNL whom I see as potential partners. There are fewer people in the PSD area whom I see as partners; certainly not the whole party. At the USR level, after they become clear – because there are many camps there and they are waiting for the end of this electoral exercise – I would see a strict collaboration protocol on mayors in two rounds, 300 parliamentarians, administrative reform, reduction of labor taxation”.

“With a minority or majority government, it depends. Politics is the art of negotiation“, emphasized George Simion.

“Becali learned some things. He doesn’t go to monasteries and churches for nothing”

The President of AUR also referred to George Becali, specifying that he could be among the candidates of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians in the Chamber of Deputies, but that an agreement in this regard has not yet been concluded, according to Agerpres, citing the same source.

However, he denied the hypothesis of a place for George Becali on the AUR lists, in exchange for a possible donation.

Simion estimated that the support that Becali would give him would help him enter the second round and win the presidential elections.

“I don’t think so George Becali from 20 years ago he is George Becali from 2024. He learned some things. He doesn’t go to monasteries and churches for nothing. (…) If Mr. Becali, like many other businessmen, gets involved in AUR financially – very good, but we don’t charge a fee. I received different proposals, exorbitant amounts, at least for me: 200, 300, 500,000 euros to make deputies and senators. And I refused. (…) I don’t sell parliamentary seats. I didn’t do it, I wouldn’t do it, for one simple reason: these people will leave us as soon as they enter the Parliament. (…) I take Mr. Becali primarily because he respects the identity and political area where we are from and because he brings votes”Simion stated in the show “In front of you” from Digi24.

Although he admits that among the members of the AUR there are also people who were part of other political parties, Simion specified that he does not want such people to occupy the positions of minister or prime minister.

“I received different invitations to, I don’t know…, to have Mrs. Dăncilă come to us. We don’t really correspond ideologically either. Mrs. Dancila was prime minister. There have been different premiers who have tried to enter into an alliance or come to AUR. For example, Mr. Ponta. And I refused, Mr. Ponta is very angry that I don’t keep my word. I never gave my word to Mr. Ponta that I would ever make any alliance or any political project with him”said George Simion at Digi24.

“Others also pretended to be my advisers”

The AUR leader claims that Victor Ponta allegedly claimed to be his advisor, but there was no contractual relationship in this regard. At the same time, Simion claimed that Ponta proposed to him the formation of a political alliance, Agerpres shows:

“This is what Mr. Ponta claimed, after three discussions (that he was a councillor, no). Others claimed to be my advisers. I had no contractual relationship. I went out to a public restaurant in the center of the Capital with Mr. Ponta, who I suspect called the paparazzi (…). In the end, he obtained a position as an advisor to Mr. Ciolacu“.
