A jury consisting of seven women and five men discussed for five days in the process that lasted six weeks, before voting unanimously the condemnation of the filmmaker fallen in disgrace for one of the three accusations, writes the BBC.
The jury found him innocent of an additional charges of sexual assault and has not yet pronounced the verdict in case of rape.
The conviction is added to the 16 -year sentence that Weinstein has to atone for after being convicted of sexual crimes in Los Angeles.
The process based on the testimony of three women: the former television production assistant Miriam Haley, actress Jessica Mann and the model Kaja Sokola. All three accused Weinstein of using his power in the entertainment industry to sexually abuse them.
On Wednesday, the jury found Weinstein guilty of aggression on Haley, but found him innocent of aggression on Mrs. Sokola. The jury has not yet pronounced the verdict in Mrs. Mann’s case and intends to resume deliberations regarding the accusation of rape on Thursday.
In April, the former producer returned to the court in New York, in a new trial for rape and sexual assault, after his 2020 conviction was canceled last year.
Initially sentenced to 23 years in prison, the former producer obtained the annulment of the sentence in April 2024, after the New York Court of Appeal found that alleged victims were heard in cases for which he had not been charged.
Weinstein has always denied the accusations, claiming that all relationships were consensual. However, since the outbreak of the scandal in 2017, over 80 women, including actresses Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ashley Judd, have accused him of harassment, sexual aggression or rape.
