According to the official calendar published by the Ministry of Education, the verification tests will take place on May 20 and 21, and the results will be displayed on May 24. The possible appeals can be submitted on the same day, and the final results are scheduled for May 28. Attention, the tests are eliminatory, and those who do not get at least note 6 cannot go further to these special classes.
Who should support these tests?
The test for verifying modern language knowledge is addressed only to students who want to attend a high school in a class with bilingual or intensive teaching. Not required for beginner classes. Also, in the case of classes with intensive teaching, if there are more candidates than available places, a separation test can be organized.
Guide to equivalent foreign language certificates or studies in the mother tongue
Students who have passed international examinations recognized for the certification of linguistic skills or who have obtained prizes at the national Olympics may request the equivalence of these results, so that they no longer have to support the language verification test.
- Students holding international foreign languages certificates, recognized by the Ministry of Education.
- The students who obtained the first, II, III prizes or mention at the national stage of the modern language Olympiad.
- Students who followed at least one year of gymnasium in a educational unit with teaching in the mother tongue or in a school abroad with teaching in the language for which it is desired to admit to the bilingual profile.
What documents should be submitted:
At the school secretariat, the student’s parent or legal representative will submit:
- Written request for the recognition and equivalence of results.
- Diploma/certificate/certificate in original, for international exams.
- Or, as the case may be, the registration sheet or the decision to equate the studies carried out abroad.
- It is recommended that the documents be submitted as soon as possible, in order to avoid the agglomeration at the end of the registration period. If you need help in completing the application or verifying the validity of a language certificate, you can request the support of the school or secretariat.
How to perform testing in foreign language
The test consists of two samples – one written and an oral one – and the topics are unique at the county level. They are designed for the A2 level within the European framework for languages.
The written test has a maximum score of 70 points (of which 10 are ex officio) and takes place over 60 minutes. Students can receive questions with multiple answers, short questions, true/false exercises with justification or completing some lacunar texts. Appeals can be filed only for this test, and the notation is made by two evaluators.
The oral test has a maximum score of 30 points and aims at the student’s ability to hold an oral speech and to participate in a conversation. In the case of this evidence, no appeals are allowed.
The final note is calculated by gathering the scores obtained in the two samples and dividing the result at 10. It is declared admitted the student who obtains at least note 6.
Exceptions: Who is exempt from testing?
According to the methodology, students can be exempted from testing if:
- have an international certificate of linguistic competence, recognized by the Ministry of Education;
- they studied the language in an educational system from abroad;
- come from schools or classes where that language has already been taught intensively.
It is important for parents and students to carefully check the criteria and documents necessary for exemption, as they must be submitted within the same interval: May 14-16.
Why is this test matter?
The classes with bilingual teaching are highly sought after, especially in the big cities, due to the opportunities they offer: an advanced level of language, easier access to international scholarships, educational partnerships and a clear advantage to admission to faculties from abroad.
Official models for National Assessment 2025-Linguistic skills are available on the dedicated website of the Ministry of Education and on edupedu.ro.
Understanding the written text
Students must read an authentic text (letter, poster, ad, email, etc.) and answer questions that test:
- Understanding the main ideas;
- Identification of details;
- Recognizing the communicative purpose.
The difficulty level varies between A1 and A2, depending on the student’s study cycle.

- The ability to identify essential information;
- Understanding the communicative intention;
- Associating information with concrete images or situations.

- Informal letter;
- An email to a colleague;
- A note with practical information.
Is evaluated:
- The clarity of the message;
- Coherence and organization of ideas;
- Linguistic correctness (within the limits of the targeted level)
How is the test of modern languages evaluated?
The evaluation is of formative type: students do not receive a note, but a level of competence (A1 or A2) for each of the four samples. The results will be included in the educational portfolio, without a direct impact on the average of admission to the high school.
The publication of models of subjects for linguistic skills at the National Assessment 2025 represents an essential step towards a modern evaluation, focused on communication and competence. Students are encouraged to use these materials to prepare themselves in a realistic way, at their own pace, focusing on developing expression skills in a foreign language.
The tongue samples calendar in 2025

Between July 8 and 2, the students complete the enrollment sheets, and on July 18, the automatic high school distribution takes place. Subsequently, between July 19 and 22, the students admitted must submit the registration files to the educational units.
