“After two years of constant legislative efforts, the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, promulgated today the Alexandra Ivanov law, which I initiated, together with my colleagues Adrian Wiener and Cristina Prună, in memory of a young mother from Botoșani, who died days ago crying for help in the Botoșani Maternity Hospital. Alexandra died also because in salon 1 on the 5th floor of hospital where she could have been saved there was no panic button and no one heard her desperate cry: I have no air (no the young woman’s last words)“, the parliamentarian wrote on Facebook on Wednesday evening.
Panic buttons available to patients
Through the law promulgated on Wednesday by Nicușor Dan, all hospitals in Romania, in the state and private system, will be required to be equipped with panic buttons, available to patients.
“Furthermore, all ATI departments in the country and hospital emergency units will be mandatorily equipped with video monitoring systems, for the safety of patients and medical personnel who are doing their duty. A small step, but absolutely necessary for the improvement of the medical act in Romanian hospitals, public and private! Alexandra, please forgive, from there, from Heaven, a still cynical and uncaring system“, explained Emanuel Ungureanu.
The medical staff ignored her all night
We remind you that Alexandra Ivanov died almost nine hours after being admitted to the Botoşani Maternity Hospital. She was three months pregnant and arrived at the hospital by ambulance after complaining of pain and bleeding.
After she underwent a set of tests and was given an infusion, the medical staff ignored her all night.
In the morning, her state of health worsened considerably, dying in the Anesthesia – Intensive Care Unit.
The 25-year-old woman did not receive medical care for almost seven hours, according to a report prepared by the Botoşani Public Health Directorate (DSP).
