Instagram introduces a new function. What benefits bring for users

Although it is the most popular social media platform developed around the images and, subsequently, video filming, Instagram does not post so far in the natural format the photos taken by users with cameras of phones.

The Instagram social network will add support for images in 3: 4 format, the format in which the photo cameras of mobile phones are taken, according to news.ro.

Following the change, the photos taken with the phone will appear on Instagram as they were initially taken, without being modified. These were cut, significant portions of the top and the bottom were eliminated before being published within the platform.

The native format of cameras on mobile phones can be used both for posting individual photos and in carousels that include more photos.

Users can still opt for public photos in other formats such as 4: 5 or 1: 1.

EU is preparing more recommendations for online platforms

Also, in May, the European Union opened a consultation on recommendations for online platforms such as Tiktok or Instagram in order to strengthen minor security, a declared priority of the European Executive. An EU regulation on digital services, fully entered into force last year, aims to better protect users by imposing a series of internets. In particular, age control is desired in order to reduce children’s exposure to pornography or other inappropriate contents.

According to the recommendation of the European Commission, children’s accounts should be defined standard as private, to reduce the risk of unsolicited contacts with strangers.

Meta also announced that she is expanding her safety measures for teenagers on Instagram by banning the live function of the platform. Young people under 16 will be forbidden to use the live function of Instagram, unless they have their parents’ permission. They will also need parents permission to disable a function that fades images containing suspicious nudity in their private conversations
