PPE Congress in Bucharest
The head of the EPP is in Romania, in the context of the Congress of the European People's Party, which takes place in Bucharest on March 6 and 7, bringing together leaders from the European popular political family.
The event will be attended by thousands of people, including 14 heads of state and government, as well as leaders of European institutions such as Ursula von der Leyen (head of the European Commission), Roberta Metsola (head of the European Parliament), as well as European commissioners from the family their politics, in addition to the entire liberal leadership and the gang of leaders in the territory. Including Karl Nehammer, the Chancellor of Austria and a politician disliked by the Romanian political class, is expected at the event.
The electoral strategy for the 2024 electoral year will also be adopted within the Congress.
Manfred Weber showed that “one of the main reasons why they chose Romania to organize the EPP congress is because here the EPP has two extremely important leaders, Nicolae Ciucă and Klaus Iohannis“. Weber also said that the second reason why they chose to come to Bucharest is because the EPP defines itself as a center-right party of Eastern European countries.
“The third reason is that Romania is close to Ukraine. We are the party that supports Ukraine as much as we can and we also follow the situation in Moldova“, added Weber.
And the Chancellor of Austria, Karl Nehammer, will be in Bucharest on Wednesday and Thursday for the PPE Congress. On this occasion, the leader from Vienna will also be received at the Cotroceni Palace with President Klaus Iohannis, claim sources from the liberal area.
