The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, will perform on Saturday. August 31, an official visit to the Republic of Moldova, on the occasion of the Romanian Language Day.

The head of the Romanian state will go to the capital of the Republic of Moldova, Chisinau, as a result of an invitation sent by Maia Sandu, because on Saturday both Romania and the Republic of Moldova celebrate Romanian Language Day, according to a press release issued by the Romanian presidency on Friday.
“President Klaus Iohannis will send to Chisinau a firm message of support and encouragement for the authorities and citizens of the Republic of Moldova, in the effort of reform, democratization, irreversible implementation of the principles of the rule of law and securing the European path”the cited source shows.
Also, the President of Romania will appeal to all international partners to continue providing comprehensive, predictable and constant support to the Republic of Moldova, on all levels, especially in the context of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the risks associated with this complex situation of security.
On the occasion of the visit, the two Presidents will sign “The joint statement on bilateral cooperation to strengthen the resilience of the Republic of Moldova”, which will establish and strengthen bilateral collaboration in this crucial field for strengthening democracy and stability of the Republic of Moldova.
Romanian Language Day has been celebrated since 2011
In Romania, Romanian Language Day has been celebrated since 2011, although in the Republic of Moldova this has been happening since 1990.
In 2011, the inaugural celebration of the Romanian Language Day took place in Bucegi, near Babele, with the participation of Corneliu Leu and Ligya Diaconescu. Since then, the event has been organized in other places in the country, from the Jupiter resort to Olănești, under the auspices of the Writers’ League, an organization led by the writer Al. Florin Şene and published in STARPRESS magazine.
The program included traditional music and dance performances, poetry recitals by Romanian authors from the country and abroad, as well as thematic discussions by writers and exegetes from Romania.
