Maria Băsescu, the wife of former president Traian Băsescu, turned 73, and stylist Florin Burescu praised her discreet and elegant clothing style, drawing a parallel between her appearances and those of the current First Lady, Carmen Iohannis.

Maria Băsescu, known for her discretion in the worldly and political world, celebrates her birthday today with her husband, daughters and grandchildren. As they prefer, in the family.
Maria and Traian Băsescu met in 1973, in Constanța, when he was a student at the Marine Institute, and she was studying at the Commercial Technical School in the same city. Two years later, in 1975, they got married and together they have two daughters, Elena and Ioana. In an interview given almost two decades ago, Maria Băsescu reflected on family life: “I have been a housewife for 15 years. I haven’t always been like this. When my husband met me, I was working in tourism, on the coast. And I liked it very much, because I always liked society and people. Let there be many people around me”.
On the occasion of the anniversary, designer Florin Burescu praised her impeccable style and elegance in appearances where protocol was essential.
“Although we are talking about the same function, we are talking about two totally different ladies. Maria Băsescu demonstrated that she always respected the age, the protocol imposed by this statute. She was always classic, she went 90% on deux-pieces, which gave her an advantage, which did not put her in an unfavorable light”, said the designer, according to Click!.
Unlike Maria Băsescu, Carmen Iohannis, the current First Lady of Romania, opts for much bolder outfits, but frequently makes style mistakes.
