“The whole week before the organizers, but also the international delegates and simple participants were in a maximum tension. He wrote Stefănuță in a Facebook post, after the event ended.

He pointed out that, in addition to the official prohibition of the PRIDE, the authorities authorized four counter-directions of the extreme right on exactly the same route. One of these aimed to block a bridge over the Danube – an action that was carried out, but did not prevent the march from taking place.

“It was authorized even this, although a minimum security rule says it is not okay to put opposite crowds on the same route. The only reason it was not bad: because over 200,000 people were presented in Pride and in front of this puho you can do nothing. It was a huge lesson for the Government. stressed the MEP.

Critical Ștefănuță and the companies that should have financially support the event, but which withdrew from the fear of reprisals: “I do not appreciate the cowardice of some corporations that do not dare to take the part of the people. Either you do for good, or you leave us alone.”

An essential role played the mayor of Budapest, who transformed the PRIDE into an event assumed by the local authorities. “If he was not an extremely brave man, the mayor of Budapest, Gergely Karácsony, who transformed the event into one local assumed by the town hall, gangsters with clay legs would have won by intimidation.”Stefănuță said.

Finally he had a direct message for the Hungarian prime minister: “But for all of the above, the Hungarians showed with all their heart the cheek of Orbán Viktor. It was not a victory of anyone, except for the Hungarians who presented themselves. As a politician I know one more thing: when you take it on the oil, you retreat. And if you really love the country and not just power, you should leave it to a new generation. ”
