The exchange of accusations in the Pfizer case is moving online. Alexandru Rogobete says that he is not the one who has to give explanations for the contracts that brought Romania into the situation of paying hundreds of millions of euros and accuses Vlad Voiculescu that “clear mind and weaves conspiracies’.
A few hours after Vlad Voiculescu accused them http://on Alexandru Rogobete and the interim Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, but also on Alxandru Rafila that he would have acted against Romania’s interests in the negotiations with Pfizer, the former Minister of Health published an extensive message on Facebook.
Alexandru Rogobete states that he went to the talks with Pfizer in Washington based on a mandate received from the Government, trying to reduce the losses that Romania has to bear, due to the contract concluded during the pandemic.
“Yes, in April 2026, I started and participated in a possible negotiation with Pfizer as the Minister of Health, in the interest of Romania and the Romanians, with a clear mandate from the Government”, Alexandru Rogobete begins his message, after which he turns to the attack and says that the person directly responsible for the current situation is now accusing him of “treason”.
“The height of hypocrisy is that, although I left the position of minister two or three days after the meeting in Washington DC, one of the former ministers who are the exact cause of the indiscriminate purchase of an absurdly large number of doses of anti-Covid vaccines accuses me of treason! (…) You who have indebted this country with almost 1 billion euros, do you have the guts to talk about treason?”, the former minister unleashed against Vlad Voiculescu.
“What I write here is not an attack on the person, it is a state of fact that I convey responsibly because, regardless of me (now a target of opportunity for a liar), people need to know the truth and the truth is that «️Vlad “wasn’t me” Voiculescu» ️he calmly lies and weaves conspiracies with the visible objective of diverting attention from himself.
The truth, clear and demonstrable:
1. There was no confidentiality clause in
the meeting exploratory meeting held in Washington, where I presented together with the Minister of Finance Romania’s opening to a possible negotiation. Why would that be? However, we are talking about public money and a matter of major public interest. There was no written agreement, NDA, or conditionality of any kind attached to the discussion.
Romania’s original proposal to Pfizer, to “delete” the debt of 600 million euros
2. A lost list – The list of innovative drugs produced by Pfizer that could open the basis of a negotiation is issued by the pharmaceutical direction in the Ministry of Health. It exists in the Ministry of Health, I didn’t go home with it.
3. Transparency, for me at least, is one of the principles that I did not give up even when I arrived at the Ministry of Health, obviously within the limits set by common sense, law and norms.
Finally, for the false accusation of treason against me, for the fact that you are unable to accept the error (I hope not the swindle) of having ordered more doses of the anti-COVID vaccine than hands and feet are combined in Romania, for being a very weak minister and patronizing a disastrous public vaccination campaign, for the embarrassing attempt at public diversion and manipulation these days, shame on Vasile V. Voiculescu!
I don’t have to explain the contracts that cost Romania billions. I didn’t create this problem. I tried to find a solution.
And Pfizer’s official response says very clearly:
“The Belgian court’s decision reflects the importance of contractual obligations.”
❗️It is exactly about the contracts signed by you. Not about the negotiation started by me to reduce Romania’s losses.
Romanians deserve the truth. Not diversions. Don’t lie. Not people who run away from their own responsibility and try to throw it on the shoulders of others. And the responsibility doesn’t go away if you raise your voice. And the guilt is not erased if you find a scapegoat.
The truth remains. Always.”, Alexandru Rogobete wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
Where did the dispute start?
The exchange of responses takes place against the background of the process lost by Romania in the litigation with Pfizer. At the beginning of April, a Belgian court forced Romania to comply with its contractual obligations regarding the purchase of anti-COVID vaccines, the amount that the Romanian state must pay being estimated at approximately 600 million euros.
In April, Alexandru Rogobete, then Minister of Health, and Alexandru Nazare, Minister of Finance, were mandated by the Government to discuss with the representatives of the American company about the possibility of reducing the financial impact of the debt, including by transforming part of the amount into innovative medicines for Romanian patients.
Unfortunately, the discussions did not have the desired result and, recently, Pfizer started the steps to recover the approximately 600 million euros that Romania owes following the decision issued by the court in Belgium.
In this context, ROMATSA announced that it has been notified by EUROCONTROL regarding the establishment, as of June 30, 2026, of an enforcement-enforcement attachment measure, within the enforcement procedure opened by Pfizer Romania against the Romanian state.
ROMATSA also stated that it has turned to the Belgian law firm that has represented the institution in other similar disputes, to analyze all available legal options, including the possibility of suspending execution.
At the same time, the company emphasized that the measure does not affect the activity of air traffic management, and air navigation services are carried out under normal conditions, without any impact on their safety, continuity or quality.
