The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, will pay a working visit to Bucharest between March 5 and 6, where she will discuss bilateral cooperation and participate in the congress of the European People's Party, the President of the Republic of Moldova announces in a press release.
During the visit, the head of state will have meetings with President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and will meet with the Moldovan community in Bucharest.
Also, Maia Sandu will participate in the congress of the European People's Party, where she will give a speech and have meetings with several counterparts, according to Agerpres.
The Congress of the European Popular Party takes place in Bucharest on March 6 and 7, bringing together leaders from the European popular political family.
The ruling Action and Solidarity Party of the Republic of Moldova, founded by the current president of the country, Maia Sandu, is an associate member of the European People's Party.
Before the visit to Bucharest, Maia Sandu had a meeting with the Romanian ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Cristian-Leon Ţurcanu. The meeting is part of the context of the mutual visits of the leaders of the two countries. Last week, the president of the Romanian Senate, Nicolae Ciucă, visited Chisinau.
Bilateral discussions focus on cross-border projects that will improve the standard of living of citizens on both banks of the Prut, the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union and regional security.
Also on Tuesday, the president of Romania will have meetings with the president of the Popular Party from Spain, Alberto Núnez Feijóo, and with the president of the Group of the European People's Party (PPE) in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber.
The meetings take place one day before the PPE Congress, which will take place in Bucharest on Wednesday and Thursday.
