On Thursday, the PSD launched a harsh attack on former Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, whom it accuses of preventing the formation of a new government after losing power.
In a post published on Facebook, the social democrats claim that “the dismissed prime minister Ilie Bolojan blocks all of Romania because he lost power“.
“Beyond the ambitions of a single man, Romanians urgently need a Government that will take the country out of the economic and social chaos in which Bolojan left it,” says the PSD.
The social democrats criticize those who, in the past, asked for the PSD “pro-European responsibility”, claiming that they are no longer concerned with either responsibility or the direction in which the country is heading.
In the same post, the PSD states that the PNL should go into opposition after seven years in government.
“It is also possible without PNL! After 7 years in power, without winning the elections, it is time to go into opposition, next to AUR“, the formation transmits.
PSD also rejects the claims that Ilie Bolojan would have accepted the position of prime minister due to the lack of other options, claiming that he did not “no act of sacrifice“.
“Mr. Bolojan did not perform any act of ritual sacrifice. There is nothing heroic when you are driven only by the thirst for power”, the social democrats also state.
According to the PSD, the worst thing is that “the thirst for power darkens your judgment and you become toxic for Romanians and Romania”.
The PSD statements come in the context of negotiations for the formation of a new government. On Wednesday, PNL leader Ilie Bolojan announced that the liberals have decided not to vote for the future executive led by Eugen Tomac, arguing that a cabinet without explicit political and parliamentary support cannot continue the necessary reforms and is not a viable solution for Romania.
