PSD sent the county, sector and Bucharest city organizations an internal consultation address in which they request an evaluation of the party’s activity within the coalition. The document is signed by the deputy Claudiu Manda.
The document revealed by Stiri per sources shows that six months have passed since PSD entered the current governing coalition, led by Ilie Bolojan, during which the social democrats secured parliamentary support and held ministerial portfolios.
“In this context, and taking into account the results of the partial local elections – where PSD won in 12 out of 14 UATs, but lost Bucharest – a lucid evaluation of this period of government and the prospects for the future is required”the document states.
That is why the National Permanent Bureau (BPN) of the party decided to initiate an extensive internal consultation process, local leaders being invited to actively participate in this analysis.
The two issues under debate are:
1. To what extent do you consider that the defining policies and measures for the PSD and for our electorate have been assumed and implemented correctly by the Bolojan Government?
2. What should be PSD’s priorities and political conduct in the next period?
Also, the signatory of the document asks local leaders to express their point of view on some topics on the government agenda.
Among them, states the cited publication, are the application of the law on the increase of the minimum wage, the reduction of administrative expenses through layoffs or wage reductions, as well as the increase of local fees and taxes for the benefit of the national budget. The PSD also asks for views on protecting pensioners’ incomes and identifying the necessary funds for the essential public investments provided for in the state budget for 2026.
The PSD leadership asks local leaders and mayors to evaluate how government measures are perceived in the territory and whether they correspond to the priorities of the social-democratic electorate. They must indicate the essential objectives that the party should promote and provide direction in case of non-alignment of coalition partners. The recommendations of local leaders, who know the needs of the communities best, will serve as the foundation for the party’s strategic decisions.
Organizations are asked to consult the members of the County or District Political Councils to integrate all relevant points of view.
Grindeanu: “This analysis will include everything related to the public agenda and the decisions to be taken by the Government”
On December 9, Sorin Grindeanu, PSD president, announced, after the meeting of the party leadership, that there will be an analysis of the participation in the government in the next period.
“This analysis will include everything related to the public agenda and the decisions to be taken by the Government, by Prime Minister Bolojan in the next period, the way in which the budget is to be built and the way in which our proposals will be considered.
All of this will count in the analysis we started today. Whether we are talking about the minimum wage, the local or central administration, the 2026 budget, all elements will be evaluated and, at the end, we will vote, as we did six months ago,” said Sorin Grindeanu.
The PSD leader mentioned that an evaluation was also made of what happened in the elections for the Capital City Hall and claimed that Daniel Băluță would not have won the position of mayor under any circumstances, not even if he had given a political speech.
“We have already made an assessment of the mistakes we committed in the Capital. In the end, the candidate of the coalition won, and our candidate came in 2nd place. Ciucu said vote for me so that extremism does not win. Anca Alexandrescu said that, if he had won, he would have removed Bolojan. However, we came with a technical, administrative speech, focused on what we wanted to achieve in Bucharest.
Our message, based on the good things Daniel did in Sector 4, was weaker than the others, however. The lack of a strong political message has brought us to where we are today. If Daniel had had a political speech, he probably would not have won the elections in Bucharest, but he would have ranked second, without any doubt. The proof is the other places where we had elections”Grindeanu concluded.
