At the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Electoral Authority approved the organization of 950 polling stations for Romanians abroad, which represents a record number, according to AEP president Toni Greblă.
“We have opened 950 polling stations abroad, at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is a record both for our country, but no other country in the world organizes such a large number of polling stations abroad”, he declared.
The most polling stations are in Italy (and Malta) – 158, the Kingdom of Spain – 147, the United Kingdom – 107, the French Republic (and the Principality of Monaco) – 68, the Republic of Moldova – 59, the USA – 48, the Kingdom of Belgium – 29, The Kingdom of the Netherlands – 21, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, informs Agerpres.

Regarding voting by mail, the president of the Permanent Electoral Authority specified that, although 6,721 requests were received, only 6,283 envelopes containing the ballots were sent, because the others did not comply with the conditions of domicile and residence abroad.
“So far, 2,531 envelopes have already been returned containing the ballots of Romanian citizens domiciled abroad who have already expressed their right to vote”, said Toni Greblă.
