Richard Chamberlain, the actor known for his role in the 1960s medical series Dr. Kildare and for the main role of Shogunhe died at the age of 90, his BBC publicist confirmed.

Chamberlain received the title of “The King of the Ministers” for its main roles in Shogun and Spin bird.
He died on Saturday night late, local time (10:15 GMT on Waimanalo, Hawaii, after suffering complications due to a stroke, confirmed his publicist, Harlan Boll – just hours before he turned 91.
Martin Rabbett, his long -lasting partner, called a “Wonderful and loving soul” in a statement.
He said: “Our dear Richard is now with the angels. He is free and flies to the loved ones who have left before us.”
Babbett added: “Love never dies. And our love is under his wings, lifting him to his next great adventure.”
Chamberlain’s great discovery came in 1961 when he became a name known as Dr. James Kildare in Dr. Kildare. The series, based on a series of folk films from the 1930s and 40s, attracted millions of viewers and made a beloved figure.
He became “The King of the Mini-TVs of the TV from the 1980s”playing a western prisoner in Shogun and a Catholic priest tempted by love in Spin bird.

The latter won 60% of the US television audience and received 16 EMMY awards nominations.
Chamberlain denied that he would be gay when he was confronted by a French magazine in 1989 and did not speak public about his sexual orientation until the age of 70.
He revealed his sexuality in his 2003 biography, Shattered Love. Despite a 30-year-old relationship with the Rabbett actor-ragged, they kept their secret life.
In interviews to promote the book, he advised other beautiful actors from the first roles to keep their sexuality for themselves.
“I thought it was something very, very deeply wrong with me.”acknowledged Chamberlain. The couple broke up in 2010.
Chamberlain was born on March 31, 1934, in Beverly Hills, California.
