The classrooms and other school spaces can be equipped with audio-video monitoring devices, according to an order given by the Ministry of Education and published on Thursday, April 30, in the Official Gazette.

The rooms can be installed with the agreement of most parents (for minor students), major students and employees, classrooms, halls or outside buildings, but not in toilets and lockers. In exceptional cases, such as a significant increase in violence, rooms can be installed without the vote of the majority, but only with informing those involved.
“The new regulation comes with detailed provisions regarding the purpose, mode of operation and access to records, but also with notable exceptions that allow the installation without the consent of all the actors involved.
The implementation of video surveillance in schools requires the agreement of most parents, major students and employees for installation (written agreement). In exceptional situations such as significant increase in acts of violence, They can only be installed with their information ”, the statement said.
“According to the Minister’s order, the educational units are obliged:
- to keep the records up to 30 days;
- not to use the images in evaluating the teachers or the scoring of the students;
- to allow access to images only under strictly regulated conditions;

The measure is to enter into force in module 5 of this school year.
