The Broken Borders and Seamless exhibitions are coming to an end

The Photography Resources Center (CdRF) invites the public to the completion of two event exhibitions: Broken Borders by Ioana Moldovan, curated by Arianna Rinaldo, and Seamless by Andrei Păcuraru, curated by Natan Dvir.

Different faces of war

The images present two different perspectives on the concept of humanity, between the aesthetic and technical precision of Andrei and the realism of the war photographed by Ioana. The exhibitions end with an artist-talk in a calm and warm atmosphere, on May 24, 6 pm, at the gallery Is This Art? from Popa Tatu street, number 68.

The exhibitions are the result of the CdRF Meeting Point series of events, through which CdRF was the meeting place for ten renowned curators who came into contact with Romanian photography.

Broken Borders by Ioana Moldovan, curator Arianna Rinaldo

When we think of war, we can try to imagine the horror, the injustice, the destruction, the tragic consequences. Yet safe, hundreds of miles away, we cannot hear the noise, we cannot feel the emptiness, the despair, the fear and the hopelessness. We cannot understand the ferocity of soldiers fighting for their homeland, nor the courage of a mother carrying her children to safety, the extreme act of running away from home and abandoning her life for an uncertain future.

Ioana Moldovan is a freelance documentary photographer, writer and published author, who joined from the beginning in the creation of CdRF. She photographs both from behind the front lines and inside small rural communities, and her reports have been published over time by The New York Times, ESPN, Al Jazeera English, Huffington Post, BBC, Der Spiegel, Open Society Foundation, Libération , Deutsche Welle, LensCulture, etc.

Arianna Rinaldo is an independent professional with over 20 years of experience. From 2012 to 2021 he was the artistic director of Cortona On The Move, international festival of visual narrative. Since 2016 she has been curator of photography at PhEST, a photography and contemporary arts festival in Puglia. He is on the selection committee of various institutions, including the Leica Oskar Barnack Award, the British Photography Journal “Ones to Watch” and the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Award.

Seamless by Andrei Păcuraru, curator Natan Dvir

Andrei Păcuraru is on a continuous journey towards the limits of what we consider (or see as) human. With references to Bauhaus principles and the technical and aesthetic precision of Andreas Feininger, Păcuraru invites the viewer into a realm where the artificial becomes almost organic.

Andrei Păcuraru (PAC) has been a photographer for over 15 years, lecturer and member of the National Association for Contemporary Visual Arts and part of the core team of CdRF. An expert in the art of photography, Andrei has a special inclination for photographic technique and composition. His works have been exhibited both in Romania and abroad and he is the custodian of the PAC Collection, a personal archive started in 2006 that contains over 10,000 unpublished photographs.

Natan Dvir is an educator and conceptual documentary photographer who focuses on the human aspects of cultural, social and political issues. He received an MBA from Tel Aviv University and an MA in photography from the School of Visual Arts (NY), after which he became an adjunct faculty member at the International Center of Photography (ICP).
