The interim president, Sorin Grindeanu, would ensure his support for two of the most powerful branches in the party, supporting Claudiu Manda for the position of Gneral Secretary of the Formation, instead of Paul Stănescu, the one who controls the PSD Olt branch.
In contrast, from the Olt branch, Stănescu would support Marius Oprescu, the president of CJ Dolj, for a position of first vice-president, explains sources quoted by News.com.
4 positions of first vice-president
The management would have 4 positions of first vice-presidents, instead of 2, to decrease the number of vice-presidents on fields, from 8 to 4, according to “Adevărul” information
The team of first vice-presidents would thus be part of Marius Oprescu (Olt), Victor Negrescu (vice president of the European Parliament), Bogdan Ivan, Minister of Energy (Bistrița).
However, the fourth place of first vice-president is disputed. On the short list are Gheorghe Soldan, the president of CJ Suceava, who defeated Liberal Gheorghe Flutur, Corneliu Ştefan, the president of CJ Dâmboviţa and Ionuţ Pucheanu, according to the quoted source.
PSD Dâmboviţa, however, obtained the most percentage in last year’s local elections, almost 60%.
Titus Corlăţean, who had initially announced his intention to run for the PSD chief, withdrew on Monday, October 13 from the domestic race, stating that “PSD became a space dominated by transactions, fears and personal calculations.”
The date for organizing the PSD Congress is November 7.
