The Ministry of Health has put into decisional transparency the Minister’s Order that creates, for the first time in Romania, a clear and predictable public financing mechanism for dental treatments in the public system: AP-STOMA.
Alexandru Rogobete, the Minister of Health, says after consulting the public on social networks that dentistry must also be developed in public hospitals.
“You are right! In Romania there are hospitals that have expressed their desire to develop dental interventions in outpatient or day hospitalization, including with general anesthesia, both for children and adults. We even have a new hospital, built in Sector 4, dedicated to this type of interventions”, says Rogobete in a post on Facebook.
The minister claims that until now there has been a lack of a clear funding vision and a predictable mechanism to encourage public hospitals to develop these essential services.
“I consulted with the specialists in the field. And together with my team from the Ministry of Health, I delivered a concrete solution. Today, I put in decision-making transparency the Minister’s Order that creates, for the first time in Romania, a clear and predictable public financing mechanism for dental treatments in the public system: AP-STOMA.
AP-STOMA is developed, developed and financed by the Ministry of Health and is implemented through public health units that have or will have dental departments or compartments in their structure. The program allows the completion of definitive dental treatments, including complex ones”, explains Alexandru Rogobete.
The minister also listed the treatments from AP-STOMA that can be financed:
– the medication, materials and instruments necessary for dental treatments, including for interventions under general anesthesia
– the analyzes and imaging investigations necessary for the evaluation and monitoring of patients
– essential medical equipment: dental units, radiology and imaging, sterilization, operating room, ATI, laboratory, etc.
– consumables, protective materials and ancillary investigations.
