Real estate prices have exploded in recent years in Romania, especially in the big cities, but there are still localities where the prices are rather symbolic. It is also the case of a city that is starting to attract more and more people, based precisely on the argument of low prices.

Lupeni is one of the cheapest towns in Romania, and apartment prices can start from 7,500-8,000 euros. Lupeniul is a municipality, located in Hunedoara county and has a population of less than 20,000 euros, 18,699 according to the 2021 census.
On the Internet, there are ads with offers and requests for sale, as is the case with a post on Facebook, on a Facebook group in Lupeni.
“I’m buying a studio or two-room apartment in Lupeni, between 5,000-8,000 euros max., regardless of the conditions. No abusive language please. Thank you. PS Outlier comments are redundant and a waste of time. And on another note, if you don’t have any of you for sale, that doesn’t mean they don’t have others for sale.”wrote the author of the post.
The post went viral and sparked heated debate between those who said the offer was too low and those who claimed it was in line with the local market. “If it is overlooking Straja 25-30 thousand”someone wrote. It was answered immediately. “As many factories and plants can be seen in this picture, they are certainly worth this money“, someone laughed.
Apartments at garage prices
“I have a panoramic south-west view, towards the “La Brazi” resort, 14,000 euros. 55 square meters, two storage rooms, kitchen, bathroom, room 4.20-4.90, balcony, floor 2, Vulcan“, wrote another. “Sorry, at this price a garage costs!”, someone retorted. “A garage costs 10 thousand euros? What world do you live in?”replied another.
“Well, and if it’s overlooking Straja, what’s the point? Wasn’t the Guard still there by now? You say that someone has something to gain by seeing Straja from the bed or the kitchen. I would have a lot to say to those who sell the apartments overlooking Straja, but I am ashamed of the people who are here on this group”someone else wrote.
“I have 10,000”someone announced. “If there was no Straja, you wouldn’t even sell for 3,000. Good luck to Andi Moisescu for advertising this city forgotten by the world and full of poverty, otherwise no one knew about it even today. View of the guardhouse and the staircase of the block smells of booze, you say it’s warm if you look at the guardhouse through the window. Wake up again“, pointed out another.
“I sold last year for 8,500 in Viitorului bl C2. I was tired of how many roads from Petrila – Lupeni I had done! I don’t understand why some of you are so surprised. (You can also find it at 7-7,500) But yes, you invest in them, of course! There are many who publish them in the newspaper, not on the Internet. Good luck”, was another message.
