A few hours after it became official that his first convocation at the level of a national team at senior level is in Austria, Raul Florucz offered a first reaction.
The striker at Olimpija Ljubljana said he wants to play for Austria, but he wanted to specify that Romania, the native country of his parents.
“This is a truly special moment for me. Austria is the country in which I was born, the country where I grew up and where I took the first steps in football. It is an incredibly great honor that I was noticed by such a national team.
I am grateful for this opportunity and I am excited to give everything for the team. At the same time, I have the same respect for my roots in Romania. My roots, my family and my culture are important parts of who I am and appreciate all the support I received from both Austria and Romania.
This decision (no – to represent Austria) is not about choosing one team to the detriment of another, but about embracing a path that brought me here. I am determined to give everything to Austria and make my family and proud supporters“, River Florucz wrote on Instagram.
Raul Florucz attracted the attention of the Austrian national through the developments held at Olimija Ljubljana. The striker is the best scorer of Slovenia, with 12 successes and has managed to score three times in the league preliminaries.
Raul Florucz can evolve against Romania in the preliminaries of the World Cup of 2026, because Austria is in the same group as the formation of Mircea Lucescu.
