Two teenagers aged 15 and 16 died on Wednesday evening, after being hit by a shunting locomotive in Mediaș municipality, Sibiu county.
According to the Sibiu County Police Inspectorate, the accident occurred on railway highway 300, at kilometer 335+350, near Baia de Nisip street.
From the first investigations, it appears that the two minors, both from the municipality of Mediaș, were hit by the locomotive traveling in the direction of Copșa Mică – Dumbrăveni. The causes of the accident are to be determined by investigators, writes Agerpres.
Two SMURD crews, one with a doctor, two ambulances of the Sibiu County Ambulance Service, a fire truck and the SMURD helicopter from Târgu Mureș were mobilized at the scene of the intervention.
Doctors were unable to save them
According to the Sibiu Emergency Situations Inspectorate, the 15-year-old teenager had injuries incompatible with life and was declared dead at the scene of the accident.
The other teenager, aged 16, was found in cardio-respiratory arrest. The medical crews immediately started resuscitation maneuvers, and he was transported to the Emergency Department in Mediaș, but the doctors were unable to save his life.
The representatives of the Sibiu County Ambulance Service stated that the boy had suffered a serious head trauma and other severe injuries.
