Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wanted no details about their wedding to get into the public space before the ceremony, so the organizers confiscated the phones of everyone present, from the guests to the police.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce did everything possible to keep their wedding a secret until the last moment. The ceremony, held at Madison Square Garden, took place under exceptional security measures, and the rules imposed were so strict that several arena employees were fired after violating confidentiality agreements signed before the event.
The information was made public by Bloomberg journalist Myles Miller, in a post on the X platform, and was picked up by the press across the Ocean.
For now, it is not known exactly how many employees lost their jobs or what they did, and representatives of Madison Square Garden did not comment on the situation.
To prevent any leakage of information, the organizers went so far as to confiscate the mobile phones of all those present. The measure targeted not only the approximately 1,000 guests and the employees involved in the organization, but even the policemen who ensured order during the event. According to American media, no one could enter the arena without handing over their phone.
A few days before the wedding, the first signs appeared that the preparations were being treated with utmost strictness. On Tuesday, workers were caught rolling up the freshly laid red carpet after a woman from the organizing team rushed in. According to witnesses, she approached the team and told them, “That wasn’t supposed to happen yet,” and before long, the red carpet was gone.
The reason was not officially explained, but some sources suggested that it had been installed in the wrong place, while others reported that the problem was its color itself: the carpet was supposed to be purple, not red.
Around the same time, there were also rumors that Taylor Swift had bought all the calla lilies available in New York for the wedding decoration.
Although the ceremony was shrouded in mystery, the first details began to emerge on Saturday morning after some of the celebrity guests spoke about the event.
Good Morning America hosts George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan described the wedding as one of the most spectacular social events of the year.
One of the curiosities of the fans was the theme of the setting. In the days leading up to the ceremony, they had noticed the labels on boxes being transported to Madison Square Garden and suspected that the interior would be transformed into a garden.
“It was basically a garden set up inside The Garden arena. It was just gorgeous.” said George Stephanopoulos.
Robin Roberts revealed, for his part, one of the surprise moments of the evening.
“We can confirm that Stevie Nicks has performed an artistic moment,” he stated this.
The two presenters said that despite the impressive size of the event and the large number of stars in attendance, the atmosphere was warm and personal.
“It’s hard to imagine that a venue this big and a wedding with so many stars can feel so personal and intimate.” said Stephanopoulos, while Robin Roberts explained that the presence of the bride and groom’s neighbors and high school friends made the ceremony feel “like any other wedding you’d attend.”
However, the public and especially the fans of the two stars were given very few details about the ceremony. A spokeswoman for the artist, Tree Paine, only confirmed that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wore custom-made Dior outfits. The singer’s brother, Austin Swift, accompanied his sister, Jason Kelce was his brother’s best man, and his daughters scattered petals in front of the bride as she walked down the aisle, to the tunes of a string quartet playing one of the artist’s songs.
