USR announces consultations for PSD-free solution. Fritz: “I am also in contact with Ilie Bolojan and Kelemen Hunor and we will talk together”

Dominic Fritz insists that the parliamentarians of the formation will not vote to support any government formula in which the PSD would have a decisive role. The USR leader says he will talk with Ilie Bolojan and Kelemen Hunor to establish, in threes, the first steps regarding the negotiations for the formation of a minority government.

The president of the USR explained to Euronews that, following the consultations in Cotroceni, two scenarios are on the table for discussion: a PNL-USR-UDMR minority government, supported or tolerated in Parliament by the PSD, and the variant of a PSD minority executive, in the conditions in which the UDMR would not want to participate.

Fritz pointed out that at the moment there is no coherent majority in Parliament, which is why all options are being considered. He stated that the USR will not vote for a government led or composed of the PSD, reaffirming his party’s lack of trust in the social democrats.

“We will talk in threes in a first step, to define possible steps”

The USR leader confirmed that he is in contact with PNL president Ilie Bolojan and UDMR leader Kelemen Hunor. The three are to have a first discussion to define the necessary steps in the event of negotiations for a minority government, as requested by President Nicușor Dan.

Fritz explained that normally the designated prime minister should coordinate the negotiation process, but in the absence of a nomination, the parties must find a working formula.

“Last time when we negotiated with the Bolojan Government, it took over a month to agree on all the things in the program. I am also in contact with Ilie Bolojan and Kelemen Hunor and we will talk together in a first step, to define possible stepsi”, declared Dominic Fritz.

The USR leader specified that he is also open to a conversation with PSD president Sorin Grindeanu, but reiterated the fact that USR does not trust PSD.

The USR leader conveyed that he is also willing to talk with the PSD president, Sorin Grindeanu, but he insisted that there is no minimum basis of trust to build an executive together.

“It is a political negotiation that, after all, needs a basic minimum, trust that everything the other says is real and wants this to happen. Unfortunately, this is precisely the source of the crisis we are in, that we do not trust the PSD”, emphasized Domnic Fritz.

We remind you that the president Nicușor Dan announced, after consultations with the parliamentary formations, that the variant that is taking shape is that of a minority political government, supported by a prior parliamentary agreement. The head of state asked the parties to speed up the negotiations and submit the proposals as quickly as possible.
