Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared on Friday, April 17, that the relationship with PSD is deteriorating and that there is the beginning of a political crisis, which Romania cannot afford in the context of economic problems.
On Monday, approximately 5,000 delegates, most of them from a distance, are expected to express themselves at the consultation organized by the PSD leadership to withdraw the political support given to Ilie Bolojan.
The result is practically already known, and according to the information obtained by “Adevărul”, Bolojan will receive an ultimatum of 3 days to submit his resignation from the position of prime minister.
In this context, Ilie Bolojan stated that the social democrats no longer want to collaborate, and the PSD’s repeated criticisms violated the governing agreement and affected the functioning of the Government.
“If we were to go by the statements, we could say that the dice have been thrown and that the PSD will no longer collaborate with Prime Minister Bolojan. If we analyze the last months, we find a series of criticisms from the PSD, which clearly violated the governing protocol and common sense, and which not only attacked the Prime Minister, but also eroded the government machinery.
Obviously, we are on the background of these statements, in the phase of the beginning of a crisis, which Romania does not need.
We have some complicated problems that come from budget deficits. We are at risk of losing sums of money from the PNRR, which ends at the end of August. Romania does not need this political crisis”, said Ilie Bolojan on Radio Romania Actualităită.
Also, he points out that the PSD criticizes the government, although it participated in the decisions, and tries to avoid responsibility for unpopular measures.
“The explanation for triggering the crisis has three components. The first is the escape from responsibility, because difficult decisions must be made to reduce the deficit. But the decisions were made jointly. Those who give advice on how to reduce the deficit must be asked why they did not have the courage to undertake them in the past. I have seen this lying behavior, this double game of the PSD, through which they participated in the decision, but evaded the costs. The rhetoric of the last period is that there is a the pantry that the prime minister doesn’t open, he doesn’t want to do good things. Unfortunately, the pantry is empty, I used up the food in the past years”
Bolojan: “PSD wants an obedient PNL”
The prime minister adds that the PSD acts out of political calculations and arrogance, not in the interest of the country, and tries to impose a controllable prime minister, while he also wants an “obedient” PNL.
The second reason is political: cynical politics. You sacrifice Romania’s interest for party interests. The PSD was in government for many years, but some of the PSD leadership behave as in Dragnea’s time, as if they had 40%, but they no longer have 40%. From such an oversized political arrogance over the political tire they find themselves wanting a puppet prime minister. Those who know me, know that I did not allow this. The crisis is like discovering your house without tiles.
If another prime minister comes, a puppet, he will have no authority to do anything for the good of the country. If he wants a prime minister who will actually do the job, the question is how many months it would take the PSD to invent new reasons
There is another political reason: PSD wants an obedient PNL. When decisions related to leadership are not made in that party’s offices, it means that only the ancillary party position exists
PSD would like an obedient PNL. When the leadership of a party is not decided in that party, when the decisions related to the leadership, in one way or another, are not made in the offices of that party, but in the offices of another party, it means that there is only the subsidiary party position.
Such situations have been experienced before and all those who ended up in this situation no longer had a political future and at least as long as I am the president of the PNL, this party will remain a relevant party that will support Romania’s modernization values”. said Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
If I knew that changing a man would solve problems, I would leave tomorrow
The prime minister also says that he would resign immediately if his departure would solve the country’s problems, but he believes that changing the prime minister would not have that effect.
“Personally, if I knew that changing one person would solve the country’s problems, I would have no reservations about leaving tomorrow. But I know that can’t happen“, he also said.
“If a prime minister were to come who wants to exercise this function and has the necessary authority, the question is how long it would take the PSD again to invent something for another two months, three months, to find again that there are problems“, he also said.
He adds that no matter who is prime minister, there are not enough resources.
“You can’t come to create expectations for the population, which you can’t then honor,” said Prime Minister Bolojan.”
