The turning point in Gabriel Cotabiță’s life was in 2015, when he was in a coma for three weeks, following a cardio-respiratory attack in the gym of a hotel in Bucharest.

“It is such an important experience that I could not summarize it in one sentence. I can tell you, however, that in no case should you be afraid of death and that somewhere, there, if you have done good, you will be well received”declared the artist, after recovering as if by a miracle.

After waking up from the coma, the performer married Alina Munteanu.

Also in that year, Gabriel Cotabiţă returned to the stage for the first time. It was happening at the Chapeau Gala, an event held at the Palatului Hall, attended by several singers who performed songs from his repertoire.

The artist was applauded for minutes, received flowers and delighted the audience with his hits.

“Love is better than anything else. Only love brought me back, your love and the love of all those who surround me. Before the rehearsals I admitted that it was difficult for me. Now, however, whatever happens, on stage all the problems have disappeared. I didn’t feel the three months, they passed very quickly. I’m sorry, but you didn’t get rid of me”, said Cotabita.

Gabriel Cotabiţă took the stage of the Mamaia National Light Music Festival, in August 2024. He received “The prize for special merits within the Mamaia National Light Music Festival”.

Gabriel Cotabiță passed away, conductor Ionel Tudor announced on Saturday in a message on social networks. The artist was admitted to the University Hospital, after suffering a stroke.

“You left, Gabi, and you left Romanian pop music without one of the biggest and most personal voices! We were not only collaborators but also friends from our youth!“, wrote Ionel Tudor on Facebook on Saturday.
