The American actor, who has Romanian origins, spoke, in an interview for Știrile PRO TV, about his experiences in the country, about music and about the places that have remained in his soul.
“The country is so beautiful!”, Malkovich said, recalling his visits to several cities.
About Timișoara, the city where he played twice in the theater where the Romanian Revolution began, the actor confessed that it is “a very beautiful city”.
“I had the honor to play twice in Timișoara, in the theater where the Romanian Revolution started. I find it incredibly moving and valuable. (Timișoara) looks like Hungarian Secession architecture, but there are more Secession buildings than in Vienna! It’s crazy! I’m kind of fanatical about this architecture… Very nice, it’s a very beautiful city”, John Malkovich said, per the source.
Also, Sibiu impressed the famous actor. “Sibiu is also very pleasant. I really like the open air museum, (no – Astra Museum) it’s fantastic. With all the buildings there, the mills floating on the river… It’s crazy what special buildings there are”Malkovich pointed out.
About the movie “Yellow Tie”, Malkovich emphasized the deep aspect of the story: the relationship between a demanding father and a rebellious son who wants a life dedicated to music, while his father dreams of him becoming prime minister.
“I really like it making the filmthe story. I love the father-son relationship aspect of the movie. A son who wants to live a life related to music, and his father does not agree, and wants his son to become the prime minister of Romania. Living a life of classical music, he probably moved a lot more people than if he had been prime minister.”
