Lourens, known on Instagram as @l.ourens, reported that Uzbekistan is the cheapest country in the world for tourists in a post that quickly garnered more than 70,000 likes. A dish costs 3 euros and a beer is 1 euro, he revealed.

“I’ve been to the cheapest country in the world, where you can have a beer on a terrace for about 1 euro and stay in a local apartment for about 15 euros a night. Its capital is like a mini Dubai, with modern glass towers and a flawless subway. However, this city also has ancient buildings with a lot of culture and a rich local cuisine”the travel expert said, according to express.

He also told that he paid around 3 euros for a dish.

For example, I went to this restaurant and ordered a local dish for about 3 euros per person,” said Lourens.

He also mentioned low costs for transport, including a high-speed train for about 15 euros, which connects the capital with important historical cities.

“It’s the capital that looks like a mini Dubai, but if you take the train you get to a place like Samarkand, where I saw one of the most beautiful buildings on the old Silk Road“, he also said.

The country is described by numerous visitors as one of the safest tourist destinations. In some international rankings dedicated to the safety of women traveling alone, Uzbekistan even took leading places.

However, authorities are advising caution in certain border areas, particularly near Afghanistan and in regions adjacent to Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, where there have been episodes of instability.

In contrast, cities such as Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara are considered safe and well-organized, with a visible law enforcement presence.

Lourens’ post went viral, with many users confirming similar experiences and describing the destination as spectacular and very accessible.

“One of my favorite places!”, one user wrote, while another added: “I was there recently and it’s incredible.”

Although Uzbekistan is often included in lists of low-cost destinations, some experts contradict Lourens, saying that it is not necessarily the cheapest country in the world. In international rankings of the cost of living, countries such as Pakistan, Egypt, Libya or India are frequently found in more advantageous positions. In Central Asia, however, destinations such as Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are considered even more accessible than Uzbekistan.
