74-year-old wakes up at 4am and goes to work: Retirement story that amazed manager: ‘Old man needs exercise’

A 74-year-old woman from Bistrita proves that age is not a barrier when there is a desire to work. Lidia Pleșca, a former employee in the technical field, continues to work today, almost two decades after retirement, after she managed to impress a manager with a simple handwritten letter.

After retiring at age 58, the woman says she never spent a day at home and immediately looked for a new job. “One month before I retired, at the age of 58, I looked for a job because I am an excessively energetic person. I worked first at a plastics company, then at a cardboard company, where I stayed for seven years”said Lidia Pleșca, according to Timp Online.

Later, after the company she worked for had difficulties, she ended up at Eurocomposite, where she decided to work again.

The letter that decided the employment

Because she couldn’t find the company administrator, Dumitru Tănase, the woman left him a handwritten letter. The message had an immediate impact on management.

“If you need a cheerful, strong-willed man with physical and mental strength, willing to work, please contact this number” it was stated in the letter, according to the cited source.

Lidia Pleșca also stated that she was an athlete in her youth and that discipline was always an important part of her life.

“The biggest mistake is staying at home”

At 74, the woman says that work helps her stay active and healthy.

“Older people need exercise. You can’t always go hiking or skiing, and work keeps you in shape. I advise all older people to exercise, lubricate their wrists”she declared.

She believes that full retirement can become a trap.

“Those who retire and stay at home make the biggest mistake. You mess around, you get addicted to the TV and you end up negatively charged“, said the woman.

In addition to her professional activity, Lidia Pleșca also takes care of the abandoned animals she has saved over time. She currently cares for three dogs and eight cats.

“I wake up every day at 4 in the morning. By 5 it’s animal time. I feed and water and pet each one. Then I get ready for work and run to the station,” she told.

She has been commuting by train for almost 20 years, and the CFR employees already know her.

“If I don’t make it to the station, the train stops and takes me from where I am”the woman said, smiling.

The administrator of the company where he currently works says that the letter he received was decisive.

“I called her immediately after reading the letter. It stuck in my mind that she wants to see something of her work remain,” he declared, for the cited publication.
