On Thursday, the governing coalition completed the discussions on the electoral calendar for the presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to Adevărul sources, the representatives of the Coalition reached a consensus regarding the organization of the presidential elections, taking into account the discussions with the other political formations, so the first round will be organized on November 24 and the second round on December 8.

The surprise, however, comes with regard to the organization of the parliamentary elections, where PSD and PNL seem to have reached a common denominator.

In this case, the elections will be organized on December 1, Romania’s National Day.

The Government decision with the dates of the elections will be adopted on Thursday, in the Government meeting.

During the negotiations with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, USR and REPER pleaded for early elections, UDMR spoke about the need to separate parliamentary and presidential elections and the organization of elections for the Romanian president in October.

The Force of Justice requested that the elections be organized within the deadline, but rejected the idea of merging the second round simultaneously with the parliamentary elections.

PUSL showed that the decision already taken in the PSD-PNL Coalition, that the presidential elections should be organized in September, should be followed. The leader of AUR, George Simion, said that his formation had prepared for the presidential elections in September, according to News.

Also, PNL organized a meeting of the leadership of the formation, in which, unanimously, it was voted to support the early elections.
