Mircea Geoană, booed in the commune where he is an honorary citizen. “Shame on you”, defended the local mayor

The second man in NATO, Mircea Geoană, the deputy secretary of the organization, had a hostile reception in the commune where he is an honorary citizen – Colonești, from Olt. He was invited to the Day of the Colonești Township – the “Ilie Martin” township festival, but when he got on stage he was booed.

The locals did not take very well the fact that Geoană is doing his pre-election campaign for the presidency and they reacted. The booing stopped only after the intervention of the mayor Nicolae Stan, known as Bula, who scolded those who shouted, according to Reporter24.ro.

My dears, those who boo him, go to the PSD, there in Slatina, because you will find them there. Aren’t you ashamed? The second man is coming into this world, in our commune, a citizen of honor, Shame on you people there, that I know you, that you know me. I am 73 years old and 60 on the work book, but nothing like this happened to me. He is a great politician and maybe the future president of Romania, listen to Stan here. I don’t do politics, but you pissed me off“, the mayor raged.

Mircea Geoană tried to rectify the situation: “Let’s not do politics. I want to thank the young and old for carrying on the tradition. Politics can wait, give it to politics, it can wait” Mircea Geoană then said.

Geoană has been profiled for almost two years as a potential presidential candidate, being in a constant image campaign with almost daily media appearances and events with a political profile throughout the country, all carried out under the auspices of NATO.

On his Facebook page, the second man from NATO was “happy to return to Colonesti, at the “Ilie Martin” Calușares Festival”.

Mircea Geoană hints that he will run for the presidential elections: “I am more and more convinced that this NATO summit was not my last summit”

Mircea Geoană is convinced that the NATO summit in Washington, which he participated in as the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, will be the last in which he took part in this capacity, but not the last NATO summit in which he participates. He states that for “objective reasons” he cannot answer questions regarding his possible candidacy for the presidency of Romania.

“I can say one thing today, that I am more and more convinced of the fact that this summit was not my last summit and in this position, for sure, but in another position, quite possible. Therefore, I cannot give a complete answer. I think that’s a clear enough answer. But I am not allowed and I cannot, morally, ethically speaking, professionally speaking here, make an announcement as long as I am still at NATO, and I said this not to evade an answer, but because I have too much respect for the organization on that I serve and the professional ethics that I must have”said Mircea Geoană in an interview given in Washington to Antena 3 station, news.ro writes.

An INSCOP survey shows Geoana as the favorite for the Presidency, while a CURS survey places him in third position.
