The 2024-2025 school year begins on September 9 and spans 36 weeks, with five vacations planned to provide students with periods of rest and recovery.

The structure of the 2024-2025 school year is organized into five learning modules, each followed by a holiday. The “Different School” and “Green Week” programs will take place in intervals of five working days, at the choice of each educational unit.
The students’ first vacation will be between October 26, 2024 and November 3, 2024.
On Monday, September 9, around 3 million students will start school, of which 180,000 students start the Preparatory class.
Structure of the 2024-2025 School Year:
- Module 1: September 9, 2024 – October 25, 2024
- Fall Vacation: October 26, 2024 – November 3, 2024
- Module 2: November 4, 2024 – December 20, 2024
- Winter Break: December 21, 2024 – January 7, 2025
- Module 3: 8 January 2025 – 7 February 2025 (or 14 February/21 February 2025, depending on local decisions)
- Ski/Furniture Vacation: February 10, 2025 – March 2, 2025
- Module 4: 17 February 2025 (or 24 February/3 March 2025) – 17 April 2025
- Spring Break: April 18, 2025 – April 27, 2025
- Module 5: April 28, 2025 – June 20, 2025
- Summer vacation: June 21, 2025 – September 7, 2025
In the 2024-2025 school year, holidays are structured to give students rest periods between learning modules. In addition, the “Different School” and “Green Week” programs will be held in intervals of 5 working days each between September 9, 2024 and April 17, 2025.
For the 2024-2025 school year, the duration of the courses varies according to the level of education. Grades XII (day) and XIII (evening and part-time) will complete the school year on June 6, 2025, having 34 weeks of classes. Class VIII will end on June 13, 2025, after 35 weeks of study. High school education, on the technological branch, as well as professional education, will continue until June 27, 2025, benefiting from a total duration of 37 weeks.
In this 2024-2025 school year, students and teachers will have three legal days off outside of holidays. These days are: January 24, 2025, Friday, for the Little Union; May 1, 2025, Thursday, for Labor Day; and June 9, 2025, Monday, for the second day of Pentecost.
When are the national exams in 2025
For the 2024-2025 school year, the National Assessment calendar for eighth grade graduates begins on June 23, 2025, with the written exam in Romanian Language and Literature. On June 25, the Mathematics exam will take place, and on June 27, the Mother Language and Literature exam. Initial results will be posted on July 3, when students can view papers and file appeals. The appeals will be resolved between July 6 and 9, and the final results will be published on July 10.
The summer session of the 2025 Baccalaureate will begin on June 10, with the Romanian Language and Literature test. The compulsory written test of the profile (Mathematics or History) will take place on June 11, followed by the optional test of the profile on June 13. On June 16, the Mother Language and Literature test will be held. Initial results will be published on June 20, and appeals can be submitted between June 23 and 24, with final results announced on June 30.
Beforehand, the assessment of language and digital skills will take place between 27 January and 7 February. The autumn session of the Baccalaureate will start on August 4 with the evaluations, the written tests will take place on August 11, and the final results will be displayed on August 26.
