According to a statement sent by USR, Lasconi emphasized the importance of clean elections, asking the competent institutions to investigate and stop any attempt to influence the electoral process through networks of bits, trolls and unassumed pages, according to Agerpres.

“I strongly appeal to SRI and ANCOM to clarify if there is evidence that this year’s elections are threatened by manipulation and disinformation networks. Our elections must be an example of fairness, so that there is no doubt about the new president and the legitimacy his”said Elena Lasconi.

In the context of the intensification of unprovoked attacks on social networks, Elena Lasconi called for concrete measures to protect the electoral process, stressing that democracy cannot be undermined by the interests of influential groups, according to the quoted source.

“We cannot allow the decision of every Romanian to be poisoned by campaigns of denigration and disinformation. We cannot allow Russian tactics to penetrate so strongly into the electoral process”supported the USR presidential candidate.

The press release states that the Minister of Digitalization recently said that he managed to close dozens of accounts that spread false information, and Elena Lasconi states that simple statements are not enough.

She requests the ministry to clarify whether this operation continues and whether other elements have been identified that may affect the democratic conduct of the electoral process.

“It is essential to have a detailed report from the Ministry of Digitization, which will be presented publicly. Likewise in the case of SRI and ANCOM, institutions under parliamentary control. We must know the extent of the phenomenon in these elections”emphasized Elena Lasconi.

Also, Lasconi made a new call to the SRI to clarify what information he received from his counterparts in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

She points out that the mission of the SRI is to know, prevent and counter threats to national security, and the institution is a component of the national system of defense, public order and national security. The USR candidate points out that, through the Cyber intelligence division, SRI has the duty to identify and counter the risks and threats that are among the most recent to national and international security.

“I ask the SRI to inform the Romanians about any data they have regarding the reasons why George Simion was denied access to the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. The Romanians have the right to know if one of the candidates for the Presidency had connections that endanger security national”said Elena Lasconi.

The USR candidate reminded that the elections at the end of this year are a choice between the past and the future.

“We have a choice between the candidates of the old political class and a just Romania, without privileges, a Romania for all. These elections cannot and must not be influenced by barons, by puppeteers who decide at the CCR which candidates to be eliminated, by armies of trolls used by old politicians, who do nothing but spread lies and lower Romanians’ confidence in the power of the vote “, concluded Elena Lasconi.
