Scientists have offered a “scary” update on the mysterious “interstelary object”, recently observed by researchers.

Using data from the Vera C Rubin Observatory, the experts revealed how big the object is, called 3i/Atlas.
It was first observed on July 1, 2025 by the Atlas survey telescope in Chile, when it was about 670 million kilometers from the sun.
Currently, the comet is only visible with very large telescopes and is about the same distance as Jupiter.
According to the researchers, the object measures about seven miles (11.2 km) in diameter. This means that it is even bigger than Mount Everest-making of 3i/Atlas the largest interstelary object ever observed.
Professor AVI Loeb, a theoretical physicist and cosmologist at Harvard University, suggested that the object could be an extraterrestrial spacecraft.
However, not everyone is so convinced. Chris Lintott, an astronomer at Oxford University, told Live Science that these statements are a “Iit is the end to the fascinating work that takes place to understand this object ”.
The comet images were actually made by Vera C Rubin before it was officially discovered. Scientists have reviewed the data to find out more about the mysterious object, according to Dailymail.
In a new study, published on Arxiv, over 200 researchers confirmed the probable dimension of the main body of the comet, known as the nucleus.
