Juan Martín del Potro (37), former tennis great and close friend of Simona Halep, had an unexpected turn of events in Argentina after a fake news story went viral.

On Friday morning, Del Potro woke up to a phone full of messages from friends and acquaintances congratulating him on becoming a father. The information, which appeared on the Internet, claimed that the athlete had given birth to his first child, which, however, is not true.
“I don’t even know that person!”
Many believed the rumour, and the former 2009 US Open champion had to clarify the situation. Del Potro posted a message on the platform “X” (formerly Twitter), explaining that the news is completely false and that he has not become a father, thus ending the confusion.
“Today I woke up to several congratulatory messages for becoming a father. I’m telling you the news is completely FAKE!!! I don’t even know that person haha. Cheers to everyone and thanks anyway for the wishes and good thoughts!”transmitted Juan Martin Del Potro.
