Chivu collapsed in the Italian Supercup. After FCSB, Bologna also made Inter respect

Inter Milan lost on penalties to Bologna in the semi-finals of the Italian Super Cup on Friday night, and Cristi Chivu’s side, 45, miss out on the Italian Super Cup final. After 90 minutes, the score was 1-1, then it went straight to the penalty shootout.

Bologna beat Inter on penalties and will play in the Italian Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia. In the final on Monday, December 23, Bologna will meet the champion Napoli, who beat AC Milan on Thursday, score 2-0.

Marcus Thuram opened the scoring in the second minute, and Orsolini restored parity in the 35th minute, after a penalty awarded with the help of VAR.

After the break, both teams continued to play offensively. Federico Ravaglia stood out with decisive interventions on the shots of Luis Henrique and Dimarco. In the 65th minute, Inter were initially awarded a penalty after an alleged foul on Ange-Yoan Bonny, but the decision was overturned by VAR, much to the frustration of Chivu’s side.

With 10 minutes to go, Lautaro Martínez came close to scoring, but goalkeeper Ravaglia made an excellent save at the short corner. Inter missed a huge opportunity at the resulting corner when the unmarked Bastoni headed wide. Bologna could have struck in extra time, but Josep Martínez saved Giovanni Fabbian’s dangerous shot.

There is no overtime in the Italian Supercup, so it went directly to penalty kicks. Bastoni, Barella and Bonny missed.

Inter is the leader in Serie A, with 33 points in 15 stages. Bologna is 6th with 25 points. On October 23, Bologna prevailed in the Capital, 2-1 against FCSB, in the Europa League group.
