Mickey Rourke on the brink of eviction: The actor is asking for financial help to keep his Los Angeles home

American actor Mickey Rourke has launched a fundraising campaign on the GoFundMe platform in an attempt to avoid eviction from his home in Los Angeles.

According to Variety, the Oscar-nominated actor was served with a summons in December requiring him to pay an estimated $60,000 in rent or leave the home. The campaign, titled “Help Mickey Rourke stay in his house,” has raised $71,977 to date, out of a total goal of $100,000.

“A force of nature” of American cinema

The donation page description evokes the actor’s artistic journey and his impact on American cinema. “Mickey Rourke entered the cinema Americana as a force of nature – raw, fearless and utterly original”it is shown in the text.

The authors of the description recall that in the late 1970s and 1980s, Rourke “she wasn’t just a movie star; it was a symbol of something rare: danger combined with vulnerability, toughness combined with sensitivity“. Films such as “Diner,” “Rumble Fish” and “9½ Weeks“, in which the actor “gave audiences performances that felt lived, not acted, and left a lasting mark on American film culture“.

“Abandoned by the industry that once celebrated him”

The text of the campaign also highlights the difficult period the actor went through after leaving acting to dedicate himself to boxing. According to the description, this decision left him with “lasting physical and emotional scars” and led to his removal from “the industry that once celebrated him”.

Fame does not protect against hardship, and talent does not guarantee stability“, the description of the campaign also states. “What remains is a person who deserves dignity, housing and a chance to regain their balance”.

A career marked by memorable roles

Mickey Rourke stood out in 1983 with the role in the drama “Rumble Fish”, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Throughout his career, he has starred in films such as ‘The Pope of Greenwich Village’, ‘9½ Weeks’, ‘Angel Heart’ and ‘Barfly’, as well as more recent productions including ‘Man on Fire’, ‘Sin City’ and ‘The Wrestler’.

The actor was recently attached to a new indie thriller, “Mascots,” written and directed by Kerry Mondragon. However, the project is in doubt following the November 2025 death of actor Udo Kier, who was set to star alongside Rourke, so it is unclear how production will continue.
